Shashi’s POV
I stirred lightly in my sleep, feeling the emptiness of the bed beside me. He must have gone to the gym.
I freshened up and slipped into my outfit for the day—a sleeveless, V-neck top with an intricate red, blue, and white floral print. The top hugged my waist before flaring slightly at the hips. I paired it with loose, grey cargo pants, their side pockets adding a laid-back vibe. My hair fell in soft waves around my shoulders, and I completed the look with my favourite jhumkas and a black sling bag.

As I was combing my hair, two firm, possessive hands snaked around my waist. I looked at him through the mirror. His face dipped into the curve of my neck and shoulder, leaving soft kisses there.
“Good morning, Rosebud,” he said in his charming voice.
“Good morning, Doctor Sahab,” I chuckled.
He turned me around and tilted my chin up, gazing into my eyes with intense warmth.
“Subah itni pyaari kaise dikh sakti ho tum?” he murmured.
[How can you look so beautiful in the morning?]
“Mr. Rajput, aap bhi subah subah bohot hot lag rahe ho,” I teased, wrapping my arms around his neck.
[Mr. Rajput, you’re looking very hot this morning too.]
He blushed, and I couldn’t help but tease him further.
“Aapka sharm se gulabi chehra, hotness badha raha hai aapki,” I whispered.
[Your blushing pink face is only increasing your hotness.]
“Bohot natkhat ho gayi ho aajkal,” he said, brushing his lips over mine.
[You’ve become very mischievous these days.]
“Sirf aap ke liye,” I whispered back.
[Only for you.]
He leaned closer, capturing my lips in a soft kiss that quickly turned passionate.
I was panting by the time he pulled away, his forehead resting gently against mine.
“Jaake nahalo,” I said, standing on my toes to peck his lips.
[Go and take a shower.]
“Tab sath mein chaliye,” he said, pulling me close, making me gasp.
[Then come with me.]
My eyes widened. “Besharmi ki hadd hoti hai!”
[There’s a limit to shamelessness!]
“Aapko dekhte hi paar kar chuka hoon woh hadd, Rajput,” he said shamelessly.
[I’ve already crossed that limit when it comes to you, Rajput.]
I tried to push him away, but he didn’t budge. Instead, he closed the gap between us even more.
“Aap mujhe khud se door karne ki koshish kar rahi ho?” he asked softly.
[Are you trying to push me away from you?]
“Main koshish bhi karun toh nakaam ho jaungi,” I replied, gazing into his eyes.
[Even if I try, I’d fail.]
He leaned in for another kiss, but I quickly pushed him away.
“Par ab jaake naha lijiye,” I insisted, tossing a towel at him.
He caught it easily and scowled. “Har jagah cheezein phenk ke gandagi kyun karti ho tum?”
[Why must you throw things everywhere and make a mess?]
I crossed my arms and glared at him. “Kuch kaha aapne?”
[Did you say something?]
He set the towel aside and gave me a mischievous look.
“You know, when you cross your arms like that, they move up and I get a clear view,” he said shamelessly.
My jaw dropped. “YOU…!” My eyes widened.
“Ji, aage boliye?” he teased with a grin.
[Yes, go on?]
“Fuck you,” I cursed.
“When? I’m ready,” he shot back, making me cover my face in exasperation.
“Oh God, shut up, Aakash!” I said.
“But tell me when you’re ready…”
“LEAVE RIGHT NOW and go shower!” I yelled.
He darted into the washroom, laughing, while I stood there trying to compose myself.
My God… what kind of man is he…
I glanced at my reflection and found myself blushing pink like a tomato. I quickly fixed my hair into a neat ponytail, took a deep breath, and grabbed my things before walking out of the room.

Author’s POV
Shashi stepped downstairs, expecting to be greeted with smiles and laughter. Instead, as she stepped off the last stair, she found the opposite.
Akriti was seated on the couch, her face buried in her palms, shoulders trembling as sobs echoed through the living room.
Sarthak knelt on the floor in front of her, his face soft yet streaked with tears. He gently placed his hands on Akriti’s thighs as though comforting her. Beside them, Aparna stood with a teary smile, holding a file.
Shashi stepped forward, her brows furrowed in confusion. She looked at Aparna, silently asking with her eyes, What’s going on?
Aparna chuckled through her tears and handed the file to Shashi.
Shashi opened it and read the details inside:
> Patient Name: Mrs. Akriti Sarthak Singh Rajput
Pregnant – Positive.
4 months pregnant.
Shashi’s eyes welled with tears. She placed the file aside and rushed to Sarthak, kneeling before him and hugging him tightly.
“Congratulations, bhai,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
Sarthak managed a cracked “thank you,” but his mind was clearly running through a turmoil of emotions.
Sarthak looked at Akriti, still sobbing softly. “ritu,” he called her gently.
Akriti didn’t respond.
“Bhabhi…” this time Shashi spoke up softly.
Akriti looked up at them with red, swollen eyes.
“Aren’t you happy?” Shashi asked, wiping Akriti’s tears.
“I am,” Akriti said, her voice trembling.
Shashi pulled her into a hug. Sarthak let out a shaky laugh. “Congrats,” he said, as Akriti hugged them both, crying into their arms.
Aakash, who had been silently standing nearby for nearly fifteen minutes, had tears in his eyes too. He stepped closer, wiping them quickly. Shashi walked over and gently brushed the tears from his cheeks.
“Why is everyone crying?” she asked softly.
Aakash chuckled, his voice thick with emotion, and pulled her into an excited hug.
Later that day, the Rajput mansion buzzed with celebration.
Maa and Papa were overwhelmed with joy. Aakash called Rajasthan to share the news, and the entire family rejoiced. They decided to perform a pooja after a month.
Little Aarav, the soon-to-be elder brother, was blissfully unaware, busy at school, having no idea he was going to have a sibling.
---
Evening came, and moonlight shimmered over the mansion.
Akriti sat comfortably on the couch while Aparna fed her pieces of fruit, pampering her to no end. On the other side, Aakash was massaging Akriti’s head while she sighed in contentment.
Meanwhile, Sarthak sat on the other couch with Aarav on his lap, trying—unsuccessfully—to explain that he was going to be a big brother.
“But how, Papa?” Aarav kept asking, tilting his head like a little curious puppy.
Sarthak groaned. “Yaar, hum nahi samjha sakte isse!”
[Dude, I can’t explain this to him anymore!]
Akriti chuckled. “Aapko kya lagta hai mera beta aisi baaton pe bharosa kar lega?”
[You think my son will believe such things?]
Everyone burst into laughter.
Just then, Shashi returned from the hospital.
“Aarav!” she called softly.
Aarav’s eyes lit up and he ran into her arms, hugging her tight. The entire family smiled, basking in the warmth of their bond.
“Cupcake, I want to ask you something very important,” Aarav said, looking up at her with earnest eyes.
“Ask anything,” Shashi replied gently.
“How did my sibling come into Mama’s tummy?” he asked, blinking innocently.
Shashi stifled a laugh. “It’s a long story, shall we discuss it over ice cream?”
Aarav’s eyes sparkled. “YES!”
So Shashi took him out. As they reached the ice cream parlour and settled into their seats, Aarav propped his elbows on the table.
“Now please answer my question!” he insisted.
Shashi grinned. “Did your Papa explain anything?”
“He told me a very boring story. Now tell me the truth!” Aarav demanded.
Shashi leaned closer and whispered, “Beta, Papa gives Mama a kind of injection, and that’s how the baby comes into Mama’s tummy.”
Aarav frowned. “Yup, Dad injected Mama, and now the baby is in her tummy?”
“Yes,” Shashi said, suppressing laughter.
“Then why isn’t the baby here yet?”
“He or she is growing inside Mama’s tummy, and when ready, the baby will come out.”
Aarav whined, “But why isn’t the baby with me now?”
Shashi laughed. “Because it’s still getting ready inside Mama!”
By the time they finished their ice creams and returned home, dinner was over.
Except for Aakash, who was waiting. The three of them—Shashi, Aarav, and Aakash—sat down and shared dinner, chatting and laughing.
Later, Aarav insisted on sleeping between them.
---
Night fell, and Shashi tucked Aarav into bed after narrating him a bedtime story.
Aakash stood on the balcony, staring out into the night. Shashi tiptoed behind him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and rested her head against his back.
He smiled and pulled her closer, turning to face her. His chin rested atop her head as his fingers caressed her hair.
“thak gaya mera baccha?” he asked softly.
[Tired, my love?]
“Bohot,” she said.
[Very.]
He kissed her forehead.
“Thoda niche kiss karo,” she teased.
[Kiss me a little lower.]
He chuckled and kissed the tip of her nose.
“Aur niche,” she urged.
[Lower still.]
He kissed the corner of her lips.
“Thoda side,” she demanded.
[A bit to the side.]
He kissed her cheek.
She smacked his chest lightly. “Nakhre mat karo!”
[Don’t act so fussy!]
He laughed. “Itni desperate ho gayi meri biwi?”
[My wife’s become so desperate?]
She pouted and turned away, but he caught her wrist, pulling her back. Their chests collided. He brushed hair from her face and kissed her lips deeply, passionately.
When he finally pulled away, she was breathless, hiding her face in his chest.
He kissed the top of her head. “Sone chale?”
[Shall we sleep?]
She nodded.
They lay down, Aarav snuggled safely between them. As soon as Shashi settled beside him, Aarav scooted closer, wrapping his tiny arms around her neck. Shashi smiled, caressing his hair.
Aakash watched them, eyes wide with a childlike pout. “Main bhi cuddle karna chahta hoon,” he complained.
[I also want to cuddle.]
Shashi laughed and extended an arm. Aakash immediately dove in, hugging both of them tight.
He looked at Aarav lying with his head on Shashi’s chest and grumbled, “Yeh meri jagah hai.”
[That’s my spot.]
Shashi chuckled. “So bina nakhre kiye, chup chap,” she said.
[Sleep quietly without throwing tantrums.]
Aakash pouted, making her gig
gle. She leaned in and kissed his pout, making him smile softly.
And just like that, the three of them drifted off, safe in each other’s warmth.
