The grand hall doors swung open with a flourish. The room dazzled-rows of sleek cooking stations lined the space, each glowing under soft golden lights. Numbered counters gleamed like battlegrounds awaiting their warriors.

Laughter erupted as couples poured in-Shashi with Aakash, Adarsh with Drishti, Sarthak with Akriti. Only two bachelors remained: Saksham and Agastya. They exchanged a dramatic look while others took their places. Around the room stood Laksha, Lee-Yoon, Dadi Saa, Suhani, and Abhiraj, watching with amusement.

The kids-Aarav,Advik, and baby Shashwath-were seated with the audience, cheering and giggling.

Lee-Yoon stepped forward, his smile mysterious. "The cooking battle is simple. It's a very easy dish to prepare."

"I don't trust you one bit," Shashi muttered under her breath, making Aakash smirk.

"The dish is... sushi!" Lee-Yoon announced.

"WHAT?!" everyone screamed in unison.

"I knew it!" Shashi groaned. "Yeh aasaan toh bilkul nahi hone wala." (This is definitely not going to be easy.)

"Bhai, aap ek kaam karo... yeh chhaku lo aur kaat do gardan meri," Agastya exclaimed. (Bro, just do one thing-take this knife and slit my throat.)

"Kyunki main toh yeh khaana bana nahi paaunga!" (Because I won't be able to cook this at all!)

Everyone burst out laughing.

"Abe, tera bhai hoon na main. Dekhna, sabse accha banaunga," Saksham said with mock pride. (Bro, I'm your brother, right? Watch me make the best sushi.)

"Haan haan, tu toh na... jis se chai bhi nahi ban paati!" Shashi teased. (Yeah yeah, you... the one who can't even make tea properly!)

Everyone laughed harder as Lee-Yoon raised his voice again, "Guys! Pay attention! The sushi should not only taste good but also be presented perfectly."

In no time, ingredients were handed out. Confused glances darted across the room. Most copied others. Except Saksham and Agastya, who stood frozen.

"Bhabhi... kaise banana hai?" Agastya asked helplessly. (Bhabhi, how do we make this?)

Shashi, focused and calm, explained while rolling her sushi, "Pehle rice banana hai... fir nori sheet pe ek layer lagani hai. Apni pasand ki filling daalni hai... fir roll karke pieces mein cut karna hai."

(First, cook the rice, then spread it on the nori sheet. Add the filling of your choice, roll it, and cut it into pieces.)

"Aur sun, cut karte waqt knife ko paani mein dip kar lena, warna sab kharaab ho jaayega," she added.

(And listen, dip the knife in water while cutting, or it'll mess up the shape.)

"Thank you, Bhabhi!" Agastya smiled gratefully.

"Aakash," Shashi called.

"Bolo," he replied.

"Filling mein kya daalu?"

(What should I put in the filling?)

"Cucumbers, carrots... and avocado," he winked.

She raised a brow at him. "Great!" she said with mock sass, then got back to work.

She moved with effortless grace and focused precision, slicing the nori like an artist. Aakash, meanwhile, couldn't take his eyes off her.

"Will you pay a little attention, Mr. Rajput?" she snapped.

Everyone turned to witness them

" Apki hi galti hai yarr baal bandho apne distract kar rhe hai mujhe " Aakash defended. (It's your fault... tie your hairs this guy is getting distracted.)

The family chuckled.

Shashi tied her hair into a neat bun and continued. Moments later...

"Bhabhi!" Agastya called again.

"Haan?" she replied, not looking up.

"Aap itne focus se kaam mat karo..." he teased.

"Kyun?" she asked, amused.

"Kyuki aapke pati ka focus kaam pe nahi reh raha." (Because your husband can't keep his focus on the task.)

"Oye mere khilaf bhadka mat meri biwi ko!" Aakash snapped. (Hey, don't turn my wife against me!)

"I meant... Aakash bhai ka focus kaam pe kam, aur bhabhi pe zyada hai," Agastya said, making everyone laugh again.

Time Skip - Tasting Time

Five minutes remained.

Shashi had finished her station and moved to help Saksham. She gently cut his sushi rolls into perfect pieces and then returned to her spot, where Aakash was finishing the final garnishing.

"Mr. Rajput," she whispered. "Can I open my hair now?"

He chuckled and replied, "Let me do it."

With delicate fingers, he unclipped her bun. Her silk-like hair cascaded down like a waterfall. He gently brushed her bangs to the side. "You look good in blue," he whispered.

A faint smile danced on her lips. "Thank you," she murmured.

"Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five... four... three... two... one... TIME'S UP!" the audience shouted excitedly.

Everyone stepped back from their stations.

Lee-Yoon walked forward, flanked by Laksha.

"As the head chef and judge," Lee-Yoon began, "I'll be tasting each dish-not just for taste but also for visual appeal and authenticity."

He picked up chopsticks and began his tour. With professional grace, he examined, tasted, and noted. Some were soggy, some misshaped. Some tried to reinvent sushi-and failed. Aakash and Shashi's rolls, however, looked professional, clean, and vibrant.

He popped one into his mouth, chewed slowly, then nodded with impressed approval.

After the tasting concluded, Laksha stepped forward.

"So... who's ready for the results?" she asked, building the suspense.

Everyone held their breath.

"There was only one dish that stood out-both in taste and presentation. It was unanimously liked by Chef Lee-Yoon and the audience. And the winning team is..."

She paused dramatically.

"THE BIRTHDAY GIRL AND MR. AAKASH HIMSELF!"

Cheers and applause broke out as Shashi and Aakash looked at each other, wide-eyed with joy.

"Hum jeet gaye?" (We won?) Shashi whispered.

He nodded,. "Obviously, Rosebud."

Laksha stepped forward again. "So, winners... what do you want as your prize?"

Shashi smirked.

"Ice cream , mangle "

( Ask icecream) Saksham and aadarsh teased and laughed

"Aur tun dono ka khopda udane ke liye gun mangloo"

( Shall i ask for a gun instead for useless brains of you two ) Shashi glared at both of them

They gulped.

"Bindok" she gritted through her teeth. ( Idiots .)

"I want a new bike," she added with a grin.

"Done," Laksha said with a wink.

Later That Evening...

After the laughter-filled battle, everyone gathered to watch old photos and videos of Shashi's childhood. There weren't many-Shashi was someone who hated being photographed. Yet each rare clip brought loud laughter and heartfelt "aww"s.

"You were so cute when you were small... and you hated talking," Laksha teased.

"Dekha? Bachpan se hi attitude queen thi yeh Shashi," Adarsh laughed. (See? She had a strong attitude since childhood.)

Night fell.

The birthday dinner was meant to be at a fancy restaurant, but Shashi had insisted on celebrating at home. The sprawling lawn was transformed into an elegant party venue. Everyone dressed their best.

The dance floor was alive. Everyone swayed with music, wine, and joy.

But one person didn't dance-Shashi.

She sat on a lavish chair, legs crossed, sipping wine, Aakash's blazer covering her like a protective shield. Her dress was stunning-shorter than she was used to-and she pulled the coat tighter to cover her exposed legs.

Aakash walked up, bent close, and whispered, "Comfortable now, birthday girl?"

She nodded, eyes sparkling under the fairy lights.
