18 - IN THE QUITE I FOUND YOU

~His outfit

They got ready, perfectly twinning in their blue shirts. Shashi wore hers with baggy jeans, while Aakash paired his with crisp white pants, radiating effortless class

~ Her outfit

Her hair was tied in a clean, sleek bun. She wore her white sneakers and that precious chain she never removed. Her specs rested on her nose and a watch lay snugly around her wrist.

They sat comfortably in the car. On aaksh's request, Aakash took the initiative to drive, and Shashi settled into the passenger seat beside him. Her focus, however, wasn't on the road-it was on his hand, resting effortlessly on the gear. His Veins peeked out, and those long fingers... they were almost impossible not to admire. Her elbow rested on her thigh, and her face leaned against her palm as she kept glancing at him.

A sudden speed breaker made Shashi stumble slightly. In reflex, Aakash's arm extended, brushing against her chest. Her eyes widened in surprise while he quickly shut his own, realizing what had just happened-the feel of her soft buds against his arm lingered for a second too long. After a brief moment, he pulled his hand back, guilt shadowing his face.

"I'm sorry," he said softly, not wantin

her to think ill of him.

"It's fine," she replied, biting her tongue gently. Silence enveloped the car like a thick fog.

After a while, they reached the café-classy and aesthetic, with a striking combination of black and grey hues, accentuated by warm arm lights that added to its charm

The couple walked in, had in hand, toward the couch already occupied by Aakash's frends. The group stood up the moment they noticed them. Harsh came forward and

hugged Aakash, while Shashi was greeted with a warm "hello." There was one unfamiliar face, though, who greeted her with a cheerful:

"Hello bhabhi!" (Hello, sister-in-law!)

"Hi," she greeted back, still puzzled.

"Biwi, he's - Isha's fiancé," Aakash clarified.

"What?" Shashi exclaimed, wide-eyed.

"What happened?" Isha asked curiously.

"...I thought yo..u a...and Aakash were dating," Shashi blurted out awkwardly.

"Humara bhai humesha se hi single tha, bhabhi." (Our brother has always been single, bhabhi.) Harsh said with a grin.

"Ohhh!" Shashi said, trying to collect herself.

"By the way, aap kaise ho?" (By the way, how are you?) Harsh asked.

"Mujhe kya hua tha?" (What happened to me?) she asked, confused.

"Teri biwi bhi teri jaisi hi hai, itna bada kaand karne ke baad puch rahi hai 'kya hua'?" (Your wife is just like you, after creating such a huge scene she's asking what happened?) Isha teased while Aakash gave her a playful smack on the head.

"Dr. tum in gadho ko ignore karo, jab bhagwan gyaan baat rahe the tab ye sab ghode bech kar so rahe the." (Dear, ignore these fools, when God was distributing wisdom, they were all fast asleep.) Aakash said, pulling out a chair.

They all sat together, chatting, laughing, and roasting each other like old friends. Lunch was warm, lighthearted, and filled with the joy of shared company. Shashi blended in effortlessly, as if she had always been a part of this world.

Later, the girls decided to extend the plan and head for shopping. The group now wandered inside the mall. Ishika and Isha were immersed in racks of new clothes, while Harsh and Akshath (Isha's fiancé) helped them carry their bags.

Meanwhile, Aakash and Shashi stood in the bookstore. The moment they entered, a huge grin lit up Shashi's face.

They found themselves in the romance section. Shashi eagerly skimmed through the shelf, her index finger trailing along the spines, searching for something specific. Aakash stood behind her, captivated-not by the books, but by her. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, her energy infectious.

Finally, she pulled out the book she'd been hunting for. Without hesitation, she brought it close and inhaled the scent of its pages, a wide smile spreading across her face.

After paying for the book, they went looking for their 'lost' friends. Eventually, they found them-Harsh and Akshath buried under a pile of shopping bags.

"Bhai tum logo ne mall loot liya kya?" (Bro, did you all rob the mall or what?) Aakash teased.

"Loot-paat hui hai jordar!" (We really did plunder the place!) Harsh said, pointing toward Ishika and Isha.

"We are just girls," Isha and Ishika said together, giggling.

"Look at bhabhi, she hasn't bought anything-only one tiny bag in her hand," Akshath complained.

"Bhai, tujhe devi ke sakshat darshan hue hai!" (Bro, you've witnessed a goddess in real life!) Harsh chuckled, and everyone laughed.

"Par bhabhi, aapne shopping kyun nahi ki?" (But bhabhi, why didn't you shop?) Isha asked curiously.

"Main kapde kharidne mein interested nahi hoon humesha se hi, aur makeup karna toh aata hi nahi hai. And I get tired while shopping-it requires energy too." (I've never been interested in buying clothes, and I don't even know how to do makeup. Shopping is exhausting for me.)

"Aakash, tujhe bhagwan ne devi prastut ki hai!" (Aakash, God has presented you a goddess!) Harsh declared dramatically.

"Bhabhi, you're great! No, YOU are!" Ishika said.

"Can you all please stop calling me bhabhi, it feels odd," Shashi requested.

"Aapke dost aapko kya bulate hai?" (What do your friends call you?)

"Woh toh bohot ajeeb naam lete hain-kabhi 'Dedhfoot', kabhi 'Teddy'... par ek accha naam hai-mera surname. They usually call me Oberoi," Shashi shared.

"Aap Rajput ho, ab toh Oberoi cancel! We're all going to call you Teddy," Harsh declared, and everyone agreed.

After spending the evening sipping coffee and laughing, they returned home.

Shashi placed the small bag on the table and went in to change. She emerged in cozy night pajamas, her hair untouched from the bun, her specs still perched on her nose. She climbed onto the bed, legs folded beneath her.

Gently, she took the book from her bag. A wide smile spread across her face as she flipped it open. Her brows narrowed in focused delight. As she turned the page, a pink hue spread over her cheeks, crawled down her neck, and kissed her ears. A shy smile curved her lips. She facepalmed gently, then hid her face behind the book.

Aakash walked in, dressed in loose pajamas and a T-shirt, drying his hair.

He paused in his steps, seeing Shashi's face all flushed red. He rushed toward her.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, concern lacing his voice.

"Yup, I'm fine. Why?" she asked, startled.

"You're completely red, baby," he said, biting his lower lip. She shook her head shyly.

He nodded and sat on the other side of the bed, phone in hand, pretending to scroll. But his eyes-those betraying, traitorous eyes-couldn't stop stealing glances.

Aakash's POV

How beautiful you look, with every breath you take. Every glance of yours makes my heart pound louder, like it'll burst from my chest. It took me years to build this hard shell, and here you are, crumbling it like it's nothing. Sweetheart, how do you do this?

You look like a delicate flower, meri jaan (my love).

Oh damn, God-why can't I stop thinking about her? It's like she has possessed me. I used to be a man focused only on work and studies... until the day I collided with this angel. She turned my life into heaven, her scent filling every breath I take in this room.

Her eyes moved rhythmically across the pages, her pupils dancing with the words. Her eyebrows curved as she concentrated. Her rosy cheeks bloomed with joy, and those petal lips of hers remained softly pressed.
